Poke Tuna

Prep: 5 mins
Cook: None
Total: 35 mins (includes marinating)
Serves: 4
Difficulty: Easy

This is the base for so many of my favorite recipes. Simple, fresh, and packed with flavor — just a handful of ingredients and 30 minutes of marinating time transforms sashimi-grade tuna into something truly special. Use it for poke bowls, poke nachos, or enjoy it on its own.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb sashimi grade tuna or salmon
  • 1 sm bunch of green onions, diced
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped

Directions

  1. 1

Cut tuna into bite sized cubes.

  2. 2

    Mix all ingredients together well.

  3. 3

Let sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

Serve as part of my poke bowl or poke nachos.

Tips & Variations

  • ✦Use sashimi-grade fish only — quality matters here since the fish is served raw.
  • ✦The longer it marinates, the more flavor it absorbs. Up to 2 hours is great.
  • ✦Salmon works just as well as tuna in this recipe.
